Conference: Towards Promoting Unity and role of the Diaspora Africans in the Netherlands, Europe and Africa

Is underscored by the vital role African immigrants play in integration, the domestic economy, politics, and foreign trade, particularly with Africa. Clearly, with the world focusing on achieving Millennium Development Goals and assisting Africa in achieving development through NEPAD, Africans in the diaspora have a crucial role to play. This project was sponsored by the Hague Municipality.

In Collaboration With:

  • Alderman of Economic Affairs, City of The Hague, who provided the Council Chamber City Hall (Raad Zaal) for the conference and the Ground Floor for the African Cultural Day.

Achievements/Impact:

  • Raised awareness about the role of Diaspora Africans in both their countries of residence and in Africa.

  • Fostered increased cooperation among African immigrant groups towards common goals.

  • Enhanced effective participation of the diaspora in the economy and politics of their countries of residence.

  • Encouraged active involvement in NEPAD (New Partnership for Africa’s Development), conflict resolution, peacebuilding efforts in Africa, the MDGs (Millennium Development Goals), as well as the EU and UN initiatives.
